Modern Interior Design

Our modern interior design concept for this home was to showcase the clients’ art, which is a big part of their lives. Our clients transitioned from high-rise contemporary style living in south Florida to this home in the high mountain desert of New Mexico. The view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range to the east is a delight for the eyes the moment you enter the home.

All of the windows were replaced with larger, beautiful multi-slide windows and doors, opening the space visually and literally, thus strengthening the connection between the indoors and outdoors. The design is both classically simple using materials calling back to the classics of the past and fusing with shimmery glass accents as well as metal.

Many of the furnishings were designed by Samuel Design Group principal Lisa Samuel. The landscaping features two custom designed water features designed by landscape specialists. The interior doors and woodwork were expertly refinished to integrate with the fresh and bright new look of the home’s interior.

The rustic charm of this home was laid to rest for the most part to create a light, fresh and vibrant backdrop for the mostly modern art collection, which was relocated to the enchanted Southwest via New York, New England and Florida. The cool modern vibe of our design still supports some of the fascinating architectural details from the original home, including the wood ceiling beams and corbels.
